On May 1, the Johnston, SC, Peach Blossom Festival will showcase great entertainment, arts and crafts, food concessions, a parade, games for children, a cruise-in, and much more. The popular Festival is now in its 37th year.
The parade Grand Marshal this year is Antonio Hamilton, who grew up in Johnston.
Mr. Hamilton was born in Augusta, Ga., and lived most his childhood in Johnston. He attended Strom Thurmond High School then attended South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, where he earned a degree in Physical Exercise Science. He graduated Magna cum Laude.
Mr. Hamilton is married to Tiara and has two daughters, Aubrey and Olivia. His mother, Tracy, lives in Johnston.
Mr. Hamilton has played for the NFL for 5 years, 2 years with the Oakland Raiders, 2 years with the New York Giants, and 1 year with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played in the Super Bowl 55 this year.
Mr. Hamilton’s work in football at the highest level is impressive, but he also shows his local spirit, donating heavily to a Johnston first-grader who needs to receive a heart.
A reception will be held after the parade at Johnston Town Hall for Mr. Hamilton. Former colleagues, family, and friends are all invited to visit there.
