New banners to adorn Johnston Elementary School

Johnston Elementary School Principal Tammy Martin (Center, holding banner) accepts the Johnston Development Corporation’s (JDC) donation of four banners for the School. Members of the JDC Board are, from left, Ann Yonce, Noah Peterson, Mary Anne Hair, Tommy Stone, Roger Lamb, (Martin), Frank Davis, Andy Livingston, Don Smoak, Billy Miller, and Dean Campbell. Also on the JDC Board are Debra Aston and Shane Massey.

The Johnston Development Corporation (JDC) has donated four banners for Johnston Elementary School to hang outside the School, one for each season of the year.

This donation is in addition to donating five sets of banners to the Town of Johnston over the past several years, along with other gifts to the Town, including benches, a Christmas tree, and an upcoming entranceway sign for the Town.

The funds to buy all the gifts, including the custom-made School banners, come from proceeds from the annual Peach Blossom Festival, which is sponsored by the JDC.

The School banners will hang on a pole that sits at the corner of Lee Street and the School’s driveway.

The Johnston Development Corporation, a non-profit volunteer organization that has helped the Town of Johnston grow in many ways for over 30 years, works to aid the community in areas such as economic development, education, recreation, historic preservation, tourism, scientific and cultural opportunities, and continued promotion of Johnston.
